Welcome to AutoGuide’s new Weekly News Roundup, where we take a quick look at the five most interesting stories of the week.

One of the biggest stories this week has actually been about one of the biggest stories of the year, which is Dieselgate. In this latest update, Volkswagen will apparently stop selling diesel cars in North America. Mercedes has also been experiencing delays is getting their diesels approved, and they have also hinted about dropping diesels from the North American lineup.

In some good news this week The Grand Tour’s first episode has finally debuted on Amazon! The AutoGuide team had a viewing party and we were laughing the whole way through. It takes everything we loved about Top Gear and makes it even better.

In other news, AutoGuide.com uncovered an interesting trademark filing from BMW. The German automaker tried to protect “M1 CS” all the way to “M8 CS” which means there could be more hotter high-performance M cars on the way!

Lotus has also unveiled a ANOTHER new Exige and is now claiming that it is the fastest one ever. Lotus is calling the Exige Sport 380 a “supercar killer”, the little car will apparently hit 60 mph 3.5 seconds. Of course, the car is also lighter than before, and will not be sold in North America.

Our last big story of the week comes from a Chinese company, which claims to have built the world’s fastest electric car. Called the NIO EP9, the company claims the electric supercar lapped Nurburgring faster than a Nissan GT-R NISMO. I’m always taking news from China companies with a bit of skepticism, but if this is true, this could be a game changer.
