One word I love teaching my students is:
طمّنّي
It’s usually translated as “reassure me.”But the feeling behind it is closer to:
“make me stop worrying.”
You hear it all the time in Palestinian Arabic:
طمّنّي لما توصلطمّنينا عنكمطمّنيني
In English we might say:“let me know” or “keep me posted.”
But Arabic expresses something a bit different.it asks for peace of mind, not just information.
And I always wonder:
Do other languages have a word that literally means something like “unworry me”?
Tell me your language in the comments, I’m curious to see.
