As a new year enters, Awakening would like to wish everyone a happy and blessed year. We ended 2022 on a high note with our World Cup 2022 Campaign. It was a privilege and honour to be part of the first World Cup to be hosted in a Muslim country. We are proud of what Qatar has achieved and have no doubt that the FIFA World Cup 2022 will be remembered as one of the best World Cups to date.
The Awakening World Cup 2022 Campaign saw the release of a World Cup song and music video which captivated global audiences reaching 40 million views in just under 1 month and was trending in many countries. The music video featured Maher Zain and Humood Alkhudher with appearances from FIFA World Cup Ambassadors John Barnes and Muftah Al-Ghanim who opened the World Cup with Morgan Freeman. The Campaign also featured two sold out concerts at the Katara Amphitheatre with Maher and Humood, appearances on radio and TV shows, a tribute song for the Moroccan football team for their phenomenal performances and visits to refugee camps in Jordan and Bangladesh where fanzones were created for refugees to also share in the joy of the World Cup. It truly was an excellent fusion of art, culture, music, faith, sports and the plight of refugees around the world.
