2019 Volkswagen Jetta: 5 Things You Need to Know - 2018 Detroit Auto Show

The 2018 Detroit Auto Show has kicked off with the debut of the next-generation 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. The popular compact sedan gets a modernized look and a few features that are new to the Jetta nameplate.

A 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine carries over from the last generation model. It has 147 horsepower on tap as well as a class-leading 184 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission comes standard on the base S model, while a new eight-speed automatic is an option on the base S and standard on all other trim levels upwards. Also, the MQB platform now underpins this all-new model. Just like before, trim levels will be designated as S, SE, SEL and SEL Premium. A sportier R-Line trim with exclusive exterior and interior details, as well as an electronic differential, will be part of the launch.
